Kourtney Livingston is one of our most dedicated members. Not only that, but she is one of our morning warriors - a member who routinely shows up, often times before the sun even comes up, to invest in her health before her day starts. I recently contacted Kourtney and asked her a few questions about CrossFit and CrossFit Orangeville.
1. Explain what made you decide to start CrossFit
I was bored with the same old workouts and needed motivation and wanted to try something new. A friend of mine was working out with a Crossfit coach in town which motivated me to try it. I was beyond nervous going into the workout and I was so sore for the first month! Then I started to feel stronger and was noticing how capable I was. As a woman, there is nothing more powerful or more motivating then the feeing of being strong!
2. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I've been doing CF now for 3 years! However, I wish I had of started Olympic lifting years ago!
3. Explain how CrossFit Orangeville has changed your life
I hate missing my workouts, they are apart of my everyday routine at 7am. When I don't workout, my body feels stiff and my brain feels foggy. My technique has recently reached a level that I would have never thought possible. Excellent coaching, consistency and hard work have been key to my success. CF isn't just a workout, it's a community and a family with people I've come to admire, respect and look up to.
4. What are your short-term and long-term goals?
My goals are simple; continue to get stronger, stay focused, and show up even when I don't feel like it.
Oh and maybe one day like to run..
5. Any advice for individuals who may be nervous or apprehensive about starting CrossFit?
We are really lucky at CrossFit Orangeville because we have options to integrate into the Crossfit program. If you are new to working out or haven't worked out in a long time, the beginner boot camp is the perfect place to start. You don't have to be fit to try CrossFit, drop the excuses because we all live busy lives and have commitments but still find time and make fitness a priority.
